Then You Really Might Know What It’s Like…

— Everlast

I wish that I were more in tune with the flow of information in the world, or even just a tad bit more creative, to be able to dedicate this blog solely to the clever usage of various quotations. However, it was hard enough to dig up Lewis Carroll and Einstein to just name my first few categories, so uhhhh…….. no.

It’s been entirely too long since I’ve blogged. I miss it. In our guest bedroom lies four of my journals from my youth — I wanna estimate, from the time I was about 12-17. To anyone else it would be the mere musings of a child; booooo-ring. But to me, it’s my history. It contains seriously the most RANDOM topics. Haha! At one point I even had some of my friends writing in it with me. Outstanding!

As nostalgic and warm these memories are, I can’t help but believe that now, at the advent of my adulthood, I’d like to begin a similar chronicling.

Originally I’d intended to use this blog solely for classroom purposes. Moving on to teaching high school is absolutely nerve-wrecking, exciting, amazing, and just about any other present-progressive form of an adjective that can be used to describe the unknown. I figured if I could combine my love for things like sports, comedy, people, food/beverage, and writing along with math somehow, I could really use this valuable tool in my classes. And I still do intend to do this.

But after some recent events I decided I needed to step it up. Bring it back to my roots. So….. whew, here goes.

Today’s lesson, kids, is that everything that happens in life happens to serve one general primary purpose: for learning. You ever notice that taking notes and ensuring rote memorization of something almost always leads to some form of initial failure? But I always like to revert back to that old tale of the kid who burns his hand touching the stove (or however that goes). Best. Lesson. Ever.

So certain occurrences in life may make you upset; you eventually, to some extent, will cry, complain, stew in your own anger, feel helpless, be apologetic, among a total bevy of negative responses possible. Just remember that from a majority of negative experiences can always stem a positive, because then you learn for the foreseeable future.

I have spent a great majority of today in tears. Don’t worry though — I’m just fine. I promise I will provide more detail soon, but for now…… I just need to sleep. And I will do so peacefully, because even though today was tough — it pretty much guarantees that tomorrow is going to be infinitely better. I have an incredibly supportive and patient mother. I am blessed with beautiful and special friends, from all walks of my life, who are always there for me near or far. I know now that I have the deeply intricate capacity to be supportive and take care of others when they need it. But most importantly, I seriously have the most wonderful, admirably strong, and incredibly resilient boyfriend in the whole wide world. Whatever may be thrown all of our respective ways….. we will deal with it in stride. We will survive.

That being said…… bedtime. If you’re still with me here……. stay tuned! 🙂
